Rutgers has been successful at graduating outstanding alumni for 240 years and we have an opportunity to support some future Rutgers Alumni by helping them to network in the 'real world.' Our event last year was fun, rewarding for students and alumni and we had a significant impact on the students we met. This year, we have a focused agenda, super food and a gift for all participants. In addition, this year we will be raffling some gift certificates for the students.
Even though this is not a job fair, several students have landed jobs directly or indirectly at this event in the past!
We need your school(s) and degree(s), profession and industry so that we can better facilitate meaningful interactions with the students. We have partnered with Livingston Alumni Association and Rutgers Career Services again this year.
Here are the details:
6:00-6:50 pm RAA Member Registration & Alumni Meet & Greet (complimentary light supper & beverages will be served)
7:00-7:15 pm Welcome & Evening Overview, Comments by Ms. Janet Blair Jones, Senior Associate Director Rutgers Career Services
7:15-8:15 pm Speed Networking (a series of approximately 20 three minute exchanges)
8:15-8:30 pm Dessert Break
8:30-9:30 pm Social hour & card exchange; Network development: Relationship building; Career Services meet & greet.
In an effort to maximize the number of introductions and exposure to our diverse backgrounds and professional experiences, please be prepared to share your name, profession, and industry in 30 seconds or less during Speed Networking. Students will also introduce themselves and the rest of the time can be spent getting to know each other. We will provide both you and the students with talking points to help the conversation get started.
You will have time for deeper information exchanges during the Social Hour.
This will be your opportunity to talk to students with whom you connected, address additional questions, and exchange contact information. Please be sure to bring plenty of business cards to give to students who make a positive impression on you and with whom you'd be open to future networking and correspondence.
The evening's dress is business professional. Let's set an example for our students from the get go!
